2024 Edge Rusher

#01 - Jared Verse ED Florida State

Positives

+Overwhelming power; some of the best I have ever seen since I started doing this
+Explosive get off
+Quick active hands
+Go-to moves: Hesi, bull rush, chop/swim
+Good finisher score and weighted pressure rates in true pass play situations

Areas of Improvement

-Lacks bend; he can struggle at the top of the rush and ride past the collision point
-The overwhelming power seen in pass rush may be tied more to his speed-power conversion and his bodies efficiency as run block abilities can be neutralized
-Missed tackles

Quick Hit

Powerful edge rusher who bullies every offensive lineman in his path. His speed-to-power conversion is some of, if not the best I have ever seen since I started doing this coming out of college. His developed go-to moves with his quick and active hands can be devastating, especially once he starts mixing in his hesitation footwork. He has his limitations and things to work on, tackling included, but his athleticism, effort, and power are high-end tools.

Grade: (92.45) - 1st Round Grade

#02 - Dallas Turner ED Alabama

Positives

+Elite positional length
+Explosive athlete with legit quickness off the line of scrimmage
+Great hip flexibility to bend and get under blocks
+Has moments that flash some elite intelligence in run game
+Hands can be just as quick as his feet
+Can attain good leverage as pass rusher with excellent stab move

Areas of Improvement

-Height and weight are under positional average
-Lighter lower half shows as run blocker, struggles to anchor, stack, and shed
-Pass rush plan needs diversification
-Poor tackler
-Highly penalized
-Rush the passer at lower percentage in relation to opportunity snaps

Quick Hit

Turner is an odd build whose physical makeup plays really well into his style of play. His size and athletic ability allow him to play fast and fluid, giving him the benefits of a great first step, the ability to corner, and dip. His unorthodox length for his build combined with his quickness and height allow him to get hands on first and lock in leverage, stunning offensive linemen. There are areas of improvement needed in the run game, and he needs to diversify his pass rush, but at the end of the day, he has all the makings of a high-end 3-4 outside linebacker.

Grade: (92.05) - 1st Round Grade

#03 - Demeioun "Chop" Robinson ED Penn State

Positives

+Lightning quick player whose first step can be even more devastating attacking inside
+Displays good power, has some nice wins bull rushing from interior
+Really nice bend
+Plays with great control for someone so souped-up
+Despite size I see real potential to wreak havoc against the run game

Areas of Improvement

-Winning solely as a speed rusher will get him nowhere at the next level
-While he had quick wins and gained tallies in the hurry column; he tended to struggle to finish with contact
-Limited opportunities in run defense likely due to size concerns

Quick Hit

Souped-up defender who I believe will get a lot more snaps in the NFL than in college. Speed, power, with self-restraint/patience, scouts have to be in love with this guy. I too understand the size concerns, but every year we see smaller and smaller guys who play stronger and faster than ever, with Robinson maybe topping that list now. I will not let his size get in the way of what my eyes tell me, and everyone always says, when it comes to edge rushers, bet on elite traits and worry about the polish later.

Grade: (91.15) - 1st Round Grade

#04 - Laiatu Latu ED UCLA

Positives

+Technically refined pass rusher with large move toolkit and active hands and footwork
+Good bend, very smooth mover
+Covers ground with long strides
+Good football intelligence
+High effort player

Areas of Improvement

-Routinely plays with poor pad level
-Can loose leverage as run blocker due to pad level
-Limited length
-Missed tackles

Quick Hit

Latu is a technically refined, intelligent football player. He is a solid athlete with good bend that allows him to corner well. If his sound play and athletic ability don't get him there, his effort might. Latu can really take his play to another level by getting consistent with his pad level. All in all, a fun player with a great story.

Red Flag: Neck injury in 2020 that forced him to retire initially

Grade: (90.825) - 1st Round Grade

#05 - Marshawn Kneeland ED Western Michigan

Positives

+Good size with great length
+Explosive athlete, I am much higher on his quickness than others
+Plays with type of violence and motor that any coach dreams of
+Generates some legit power
+Sets edge very well
+Versatility; has dropped into coverage and seemed comfortable and blitzed from off the line
+Has enough fluidity to him

Areas of Improvement

-Feel like there can be some hand placement issues that zap his strength
-Lacks pass rush move set
-Can stall out and lack of counters keep him out of the play

Quick Hit

This is my type of player, very well-rounded, gives you some creativity across the line. High motor and violent player who doesn't need to come off the field during certain situations. I think he is a coach's dream.

Grade: (87.1) - 2nd Round Grade

#06 - Austin Booker ED Kansas

Positives

+Better on field athlete than tested, good get off
+Some moves that he goes to
+Uses his length very well
+Strong hands contribute to a nice push-pull move
+Does a good job to stay clean as a run blocker
+Has pulled out the ghost move a few times

Areas of Improvement

-Well below average size for position
-Struggled to finish his pressures
-Penalties
-Stronger tackles can swallow him whole
-Pad height can get a little high

Quick Hit

I like Booker, he is someone who can win a variety of ways and doesn't let the preconceived notion of his thinner frame get in his way. He has enough bend to win via cornering and has the length and hands to jar and push tackles backwards. Asa run blocker the length is of great advantage along with the strong hands. He does a real nice job of being evasive and being clean on the play to go make a play.

Grade: (85.3) - 2nd Round Grade

#07 - Adisa Isaac ED Penn State

Positives

+Good speed and burst off the line
+Good length and he knows how to us it
+Heat-seeker, can really lay the boom on you
+Active hands
+Vast improvements to rush statistics in true pass situations
+Intelligent run stopper; diagnosis' quickly, stays square, and attacks

Areas of Improvement

-Lighter frame, needs better anchor
-Bend and change of direction show some limitations which is shocking for size and athleticism
-Linear rushes can stall, needs counters

Quick Hit

Isaac is a really fun player, his intelligence shows up all over the tape. He is a good athlete with good length. He can play every down and has a heat-seeker mentality when it comes to punishing ball carriers. Coaches are gonna love this guy.

Red Flag: Torn Achilles 2021

Grade: (83.225) - 3rd Round Grade

#08 - Darius Robinson ED Missouri

Positives

+Stone cold hands; quick and stunning
+Plays the run well, natural length and mass give him easy functional strength; he can stack and shed easily
+Carries his elite size very well
+On field athleticism is better than tested

Areas of Improvement

-Limited athlete, burst, speed, and change of direction are not up to par
-Minimal bend
-Lack of a developed pass rush plan
-Plays too upright

Quick Hit

Robinson is a large human with eye-popping power. As a pass rusher and run defender, he overpowers defenders, disrupting plays rather quickly. Unfortunately, I don't come out as high on Robinson as some of the professionals I follow. I don't see a bad player, but I don't see someone who ticks every box needed to be a highly rated prospect.

Grade: (80.9) - 3rd Round Grade

#09 - Chris Braswell ED Alabama

Positives

+High end speed and burst, has the range and shows the effort to chase down from the backside
+Active hands and a few developed moves
+Shows some ability to flatten at the top of the rush

Areas of Improvement

-Bend can be inconsistent
-Lower pass rush reps than others
-Rush can stall and he lacks counters at this point
-Power head on is lackluster

Quick Hit

He has found success in the reps he was given, he has good athleticism with average edge rusher size. He has active hands and some move development. I think the power can be there, maybe some technical refinement can bring it out of him. I don't see a high end guy but someone who can have impact in the right situations.

Grade: (80.575) - 3rd Round Grade

#10 - Jonah Elliss ED Utah

Positives

+Legit spin move
+Technically refined pass rusher with large active hands
+Never out of the fight, has plan and counters at his disposal
+Large, strong hands that will secure a tackle alone
+Outrageous motor and hyper active style of play

Areas of Improvement

-Lacks ideal size
-Frantic play style can lead to unorganized feet
-Limited bend
-Lacking punch and anchor to support against the run

Grade: (77.475) - 4th Round Grade

#11 - Mohamed Kamara ED Colorado State

Positives

+High level burst very explosive player
+Aggressive play style
+Good bend
+Not as inept in power department as one would expect at his size

Areas of Improvement

-Aggressive style has led to heavy penalties and missed tackles
-Very undersized with very small hands
-Wins mainly off his pure speed, needs to learn to do more and add variance

Grade: (77.475) - 4th Round Grade

#12 - Javon Solomon ED Troy

Positives

+Highly effective pass rusher who finishes with sacks
+Large hands
+Good length
+Solid explosiveness
+Terrific bend and ability to flatten at the top of the rush
+Solid development of pass rush moves

Areas of Improvement

-Significant deficiency in height department for position

-Limited mass has him struggle to power over defenders

Grade: (77.475) - 4th Round Grade

+Explosive athlete
+Intelligent run defender; good evader as he slips in to make tackles at or behind the line

-Tight hips, limited bend for type of pass rusher

Grade: (77.275) - 4th Round Grade

#14 - Xavier Thomas ED Clemson

Positives

+First step quickness is high level
+Flashes some high level football intelligence
+Good bend
+Effort player

Areas of Improvement

-Struggles to finish his rushes
-limited physicality, tackles can take advantage
-Still has not developed refined pass rush moves

Grade: (74.275) - 5th Round Grade

#15 - Brennan Jackson ED Washington State

Positives

+Hard nose power rusher whose first contact is jarring enough to get a nice push
+Spin counter move when stalled
+Batted ball focus when he knows he can't get there to effect the throw
+Good speed

Areas of Improvement

-Limited explosiveness
-Strength can be outmatched and his rush can stall
-Limited bend
-Two trick linear pass rusher as of now

Grade: (72.275) - 5th Round Grade

#16 - Bralen Trice ED Washington

2023 Player Profile Archive

2023 Player Profile Archives Quarterbacks Bryce Young QB Alabama When you watch Bryce Young, you can't help but think of Drew Brees because of the number he wears and the skill he has throwing the ball, while some of his mannerisms, ability to escape the pocket, and ability to throw on the move are almost a spitting image of Deshaun Watson. Bryce Young understands the mental side of the game. His time to throw has increased slightly this season, which is understandable given that he has lost some significant offensive talent. I still believe he has an elite capacity for moving through his progressions with a quick throwing motion that allows for good throw timing. He is also extremely accurate, doing an excellent job of aligning his head, body, and feet for precise ball placement. He demonstrates NFL arm strength when both set and on the run. The inconsistencies in velocity are the source of the majority of my concerns. I believe the problem is fixable and is caused by an inconsist...

2024 1st Round Mock Draft

1. Chicago Bears | QB Caleb Williams USC This pick was selected months ago but we know they'll go the entire time for no reason at all, we can move on... 2. Washington Commanders | QB Jayden Daniels LSU The Commanders start their new era with a new franchise quarterback. The hope is he can propel the team to relevance again. With how they've been hitting the headlines recently fans have to still be shaky of the new administration. 3. New England Patriots | QB Drake Maye North Carolina They fielded offers for certain, but in the final hours it seems they have settled on Maye if he falls. This is great for the franchise and Mayo who I am excited to see take over the team.  4. *Trade* Minnesota Vikings | QB JJ McCarthy Michigan Folks, we have a trade to announce! The final "top" quarterback on the board compels the Vikings to move up to stay relevant and the Cardinals are prepared to deal as we saw last year.  5. *Trade* Indianapolis Colts | WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Ohio S...
